Hereafter

Prompt from Poetic Asides:  write a "one of these days" poem
Prompt from Big Tent Poetry: write the cure for your "blues"

“And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for … the redemption of our bodies” (Romans 8:23).

One of these days
a new morning will dawn,
shimmery with sunshine,
scented with sweet dew,
accented with birdsong,
cloudless skies of blue.

And I will arise
no longer world-weary,
strong and beautiful,
alive with abundance,
free from infirmities,
perfect and whole.

And on that day
morning will dawn,
many others will arise,
new life will replace old,
affliction will be no more.
We shall be changed.
